Alternative for players who are not able to play on their school team

Until now, there have been very few opportunities for young high school boys, who don’t make their school teams, to play organized basketball.  We wanted to change that, so we created a league that is open to all of the guys, who had the pride and fearlessness to try out, but were not quite ready to be on a school team. We offer the kids who are learning the love of playing basketball, the chance to play basketball and learn basketball.

We have seen it before — the guy that develops later, in mind or body.  All of a sudden there’s a player who might be quite amazing, but he’s outside looking in.  We want to give him a chance to play and improve his potential to make a school team down the line.

Years ago there were a lot of places to play.  We had more chances to play in an uncontrolled pickup environment, and it was the best of times.  But as Rocky’s trainer said about his career, “I didn’t have no management.”  We want to give young basketball players a little management too.  We want them to learn the fundamentals, develop conditioning and experience teamwork.
